Smoults Larder – Maylands

No nights | Early starts | One weekend day | Everything made in-house

Smoults Larder is looking for an experienced Chef or Cook to join our kitchen team in Maylands.

We are a busy, independent community café and deli with a strong local following. Our kitchen produces everything on site, from breakfast and cabinet food through to sandwiches, salads, take-home meals and catering.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves cooking fresh food but is looking to step away from late-night restaurant hours.

About the role

This is a daytime hospitality role with early starts and no nights.

You’ll work as part of our kitchen team preparing and producing food for our café, deli and growing catering business.

The role includes:

Preparing fresh food from scratch
Breakfast service
Cabinet food and daily specials
Sandwiches, focaccias and salads
Take-home meals
Corporate and private catering
Daily preparation and production
Maintaining high standards of food presentation and consistency
Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and running efficiently

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who:

Has solid experience as a Chef or Cook
Is confident working in a busy kitchen
Enjoys cooking fresh, quality food
Is organised and can manage a prep list effectively
Works calmly and efficiently under pressure
Takes pride in presentation and consistency
Understands food safety and kitchen cleanliness
Is reliable, punctual and ready for early starts
Works well as part of a team
Has a positive attitude and is happy to contribute ideas

You will need to be available to work one day each weekend.
