Casual Catering Cook / Chef & Events Team Member
20–35 hours per week | Weekend availability essential
Commencing late September / early October
...
Looking for a casual role that keeps you busy, gets you out and about, and is anything but boring?
We’re looking for a reliable, energetic Catering & Events Team Member to join our small but mighty team.
We’re a Perth-based catering and events business creating great food and delivering great service for some of life’s best moments — from weddings and birthdays to private celebrations, corporate events and everything in between.
No two weeks are the same. One day you might be prepping food in our kitchen, the next you could be helping deliver and set up a wedding, working service at an event, packing down, cleaning, restocking or tackling whatever needs doing to make the day run smoothly.
This is a great role for someone who likes to keep busy and wants casual work alongside another job, study, family commitments or other interests.
What you'll be doing
This is a genuinely hands-on role, so we're looking for someone who is happy to pitch in wherever they're needed.
Depending on the day, you might be:
- Helping with food preparation, plating and packing
- Assisting our chefs with kitchen prep and general kitchen duties
- Setting up and packing down events
- Delivering catering and equipment to venues
- Helping with event service and guest-facing duties
- Washing up, cleaning and keeping work areas organised
- Loading and unloading catering equipment and supplies
- Moving boxes, eskies, tables, equipment and other items — this can be a physical job!
- Restocking and helping keep our kitchen and equipment in order
- Running the occasional odd job or last-minute errand
- Working alongside the wider team to make sure every event runs smoothly
You don't need to be the most experienced person in the room. You do need to be willing to work hard, learn quickly, have a good attitude and not be afraid to get your hands dirty.
The kind of person we're looking for
We're looking for someone who:
- Is reliable and turns up ready to work
- Has weekend availability — this is essential
- Enjoys being busy and doesn't need to be told what to do every five minutes
- Is comfortable with physical work, including lifting and moving equipment
- Has a strong work ethic and takes pride in doing a job properly
- Is happy doing the less glamorous jobs as well as the fun ones
- Works well as part of a small team
- Can follow instructions but also use initiative
- Has a friendly, positive attitude
- Is comfortable working in different locations and environments
- Has hospitality, catering, events or kitchen experience — great, but not essential
- Has a driver's licence and/or access to reliable transport — highly regarded
Most importantly, we're looking for a team player. We're a small business, which means everyone pitches in. There is no "that's not my job" attitude here.
Why work with us?
Variety. Flexibility. Great people. Delicious food. Change of scenery.
You'll get to work across a range of events and venues rather than being stuck in the same kitchen or restaurant every day.
You'll be part of a small team where your contribution genuinely matters, and you'll get to see behind the scenes of some pretty awesome events around Perth.
The casual nature of the role also makes it a great fit if you're looking to work 20–35 hours a week around another job, study or other commitments.
Our busiest days are generally Friday through Sunday, so weekend availability is a must. Hours will vary depending on our event schedule and the time of year, but we're looking for someone who wants to become a regular and reliable part of the team.
