Details: The Health Policy and Programs Division is responsible for providing advice to the Minister for Health and the ACT Government to meet the health needs of the community. We do this by contributing to the creation of policy settings that ensure the right care can be accessed in the right place, in the right way, at the right time, and that people are better able to care for themselves.

This includes but is not limited to, the provision of strategic health policy advice, project development and implementation, procurement of non-government services, and liaison with government, non-government, and private sector stakeholders.

The Ageing and End of Life Branch is responsible for leading policy, planning and service initiatives that support the health, wellbeing and care needs of older people and individuals approaching the end of life. The Branch drives coordinated approaches across ageing, dementia care, palliative care and voluntary assisted dying, ensuring services are responsive, person-centred and aligned with community needs. Through strategic policy development, program design and implementation, management of funded services, and collaboration with a broad range of government, community and private sector partners, the Branch works to strengthen service delivery and improve outcomes for the ACT community. The Branch also leads major reform and engagement initiatives, including the delivery of the ACT’s Voluntary Assisted Dying Citizen Jury.

This is a rare opportunity to lead policy and reform in areas of significant social importance, shaping the future of ageing, dementia care, palliative care and voluntary assisted dying in the ACT. You bring a strong track record of leading complex policy, program and reform initiatives, coupled with the ability to navigate sensitive issues with confidence, sound judgement and diplomacy. Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $296,877 - $306,035 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $261,668.

Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a performance-based long-term contract for a period of up to five years. Prospective applicants should be aware that long-term engagements are tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
