This is an outstanding opportunity to join a nationally recognised engineering consultancy and take ownership of a talented Buildings team delivering complex projects across Defence, Buildings, Transport, Resources, Water and Maritime sectors.
Based in Perth, you'll play a pivotal role in leading multidisciplinary project delivery, developing engineering talent, strengthening client relationships, and driving technical excellence across a growing portfolio of major projects.
The Opportunity:
As Team Lead – Buildings, you will be responsible for leading a team of Structural Engineers, Designers and Modellers, ensuring the successful delivery of building structures projects from concept through to completion.
Reporting to the Discipline Manager, you'll provide technical leadership, project oversight and people management while supporting a collaborative and high-performing team culture. You'll work closely with interstate teams, digital engineering specialists and multidisciplinary project groups to deliver innovative and BIM-enabled solutions across a diverse range of infrastructure and building projects.
This role offers a balance of leadership, technical engineering, project management and client engagement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both developing people and delivering outstanding engineering outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor and develop a team of Structural Engineers, Designers and Drafters

Oversee project delivery to ensure outcomes are achieved on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards

Manage resource allocation and workload planning across multiple projects

Provide technical leadership, review designs, calculations, documentation and engineering deliverables

Support career development, performance reviews and utilisation management within the team

Foster collaboration across disciplines including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic Engineering teams

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, regulatory authorities and project partners

Contribute to business development activities, proposals, budgets and pursuit opportunities

Support continuous improvement initiatives, engineering standards and digital engineering practices

Assist in strengthening national workshare capability and collaboration across interstate offices
About You:
You are a technically strong and commercially minded Structural Engineer who enjoys leading people and delivering complex projects. You are naturally collaborative, thrive in client-facing environments and have a genuine passion for developing the next generation of engineers.

Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural) or equivalent
-
Minimum 12 years' structural engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management position

Strong structural design experience within a consulting engineering environment
-
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
-
Registration as a Building Engineer (WA), or the ability to obtain within 6 months

Proven experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations using tools such as SpaceGass, STAAD.Pro and/or Strand7

Demonstrated capability reviewing designs, drawings, technical reports and specifications

Experience managing project budgets, schedules and quality requirements

Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills

Sound commercial acumen and understanding of consulting project delivery

A practical and proactive commitment to health, safety and quality
Highly Regarded Experience Includes:

Revit and AutoCAD exposure

Defence sector project experience

Business development, marketing and proposal preparation experience

Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
