What you’ll be doing
You’ll be joining a product team at Reapit, working across the stack with React as your primary specialism and genuine, hands-on contribution to the .NET backend. This role is focused on new feature build rather than legacy migration work.
The role is primarily full-stack feature delivery across the product, with a meaningful but secondary focus on designing and shipping the AI-powered workflows layered on top (chat, AI-assisted drafting and search, summarisation). Reporting to the Engineering Director, you’ll be expected to move comfortably between both, with full-stack delivery as your main day-to-day focus.
Front-end Delivery (React):
Design, build and maintain front-end applications in React and TypeScript, with a focus on performance, accessibility, and maintainable component architecture.
Work closely with Design and Product to translate requirements and designs into clean, well-tested UI implementations.
Champion front-end engineering standards – component reusability, state management patterns, testing practices, and design system adherence.
Backend & API Delivery (.NET):
Design, build and maintain backend services and APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) in .NET/C#, ensuring the contracts you build serve the front-end’s real needs.
Take on backend tickets end-to-end where needed – not just light fixes – including features, bug fixes, and performance improvements in the API layer.
Participate in technical discussions spanning the full stack, bringing both a front-end and backend perspective to architecture and design conversations.
AI Workflows & Integrations:
Design and build the React UI for AI-powered workflows – chat/copilot interfaces, AI-assisted drafting and search, and summarisation – handling streaming responses, loading/confidence states, and graceful fallback when AI output is wrong or unavailable.
Contribute to the .NET services that integrate with LLM providers (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI) or agent frameworks – prompt/response handling, provider abstraction, and failure/fallback logic – working with backend-focused engineers rather than owning this in isolation.
Bring a full-stack perspective to AI feature design – latency, cost-awareness, and how AI-generated content is presented and controlled by the user.
Delivery & Quality:
Own complex tickets end-to-end, on either side of the stack – from reading specs and design files, to implementation, test coverage, code review feedback and production rollout.
Collaborate daily with Product, QA, DevOps, Security and other engineers to refine requirements, design solutions and break work down into deliverable slices within sprint cycles.
Contribute to and use CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable deployments.
Actively participate in incident response when needed – investigating production issues, restoring service quickly, and contributing to root cause analysis
Apply security and compliance best practices in day-to-day work – from secure coding to handling of data and secrets, including data sent to third-party AI providers.
Who we're looking for

Qualifications and Experience:
7+ years in software development, with deep, recent experience in React and TypeScript building production applications at scale, and genuine hands-on experience building backend services in .NET/C# – Essential.
Experience designing and building REST and/or GraphQL APIs in .NET, not just consuming them – you should be able to describe a backend feature or service you built end-to-end, including the trade-offs you made.
Exposure to building or shipping AI-powered features (e.g. chat, copilot-style assistants, AI-assisted search or drafting) – Essential. You should be able to describe a specific AI feature you built and a tricky problem it created (e.g. streaming UX, latency, or handling incorrect output).
Experience working in a fast-paced delivery environment with a tight deadline – you should be able to describe a time you had to ship high-quality work under real time pressure, on either side of the stack.
Experience working with distributed teams, including offshore resources.
Technical Skills:
Deep proficiency in React and TypeScript, including hooks, state management (e.g. Redux, Zustand, React Query), and component design patterns.
Genuine, hands-on proficiency in .NET/C# for backend development, including ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, and relational databases (e.g. SQL Server or MySQL).
Strong understanding of modern front-end tooling – build tools, bundlers, linting, and testing frameworks (unit, integration, E2E).
Comfortable designing and building REST and/or GraphQL APIs, not just shaping contracts from the front-end side.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, and exposure to public cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
Understanding of accessibility (WCAG) and performance best practices for production web applications.
Exposure to integrating with LLM provider APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI) or building UI for streaming/asynchronous responses – required, reflecting the AI-workflows component of the role.
Familiarity with agentic AI development tooling, with an emphasis on improving developer productivity (e.g. coding assistants, agentic workflows for test generation/debugging, documentation automation).
Understanding of SOLID design principles and clean architecture, on both the front-end and backend.
What your impact and success looks like
As this is a contract engagement, we’re looking for someone who can ramp quickly and deliver from early on. In addition to the milestones below, you should expect to:
Within 2 weeks: Have a working local environment on both the front-end and backend, be reading the codebase unsupported, and be asking informed technical questions in code review and planning sessions.
Within 1 month: Be shipping production code independently across the stack on moderately complex tickets, with minimal need for senior support.
Within 6 weeks: Be working independently on complex features end-to-end, across both front-end and backend, and delivering measurable value against the engagement’s priorities without requiring extended ramp-up support.
Within 3 months:
You will have a strong command of the front-end architecture and the .NET contracts it depends on, and will be flagging integration risks before they become blockers.
You will be independently owning complex features end-to-end, on either side of the stack, with minimal senior oversight.
You will have shipped or contributed meaningfully to at least one AI-powered workflow, and be comfortable with the UX and integration patterns it requires.
You will be raising informed, evidence-based suggestions on architecture, tooling, or process.
You will be working closely with Product and Design to clarify requirements and flag scope or sequencing risks early.
Within 6 months:
Your full-stack expertise will be shaping how features get built across the team, and other engineers will be coming to you for guidance on tricky front-end, backend, or AI-integration problems.
You will be delivering complex aspects of the product roadmap with a high level of autonomy, across both front-end and backend.
You will be a trusted voice in technical planning and design conversations, including discussions that span front-end, backend, and the AI-powered workflows.
You will be mentoring other engineers on front-end and backend best practices.
You will have delivered at least one high-impact feature or initiative – with measurable results you can point to.
You will be ensuring a smooth handover of your work – with up-to-date documentation and knowledge sharing so the team can build confidently on what you’ve delivered after your contract ends.
