About the role
As International Terminal Manager, you will provide operational and people leadership across Swissport’s ground handling services at Melbourne International Terminal.
You will be accountable for delivering safe, compliant and efficient operations while maintaining strong relationships with airline customers, airport stakeholders and internal teams. Leading through a team of operational supervisors and frontline employees, you will set clear performance expectations, develop leadership capability and create a culture of accountability, collaboration and service excellence.
This is an opportunity for an experienced aviation manager or a highly capable aviation operations leader ready for their next career step to make a visible impact within a complex, fast-paced international airport environment.
Key responsibilities

Lead the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of passenger, ramp and ground handling operations within the International Terminal.

Provide clear leadership, coaching and direction to operational supervisors and frontline teams.

Maintain effective workforce deployment and operational coverage in response to airline schedules, changing priorities and service requirements.

Build trusted relationships with airline customers, airport authorities and key operational stakeholders.

Ensure service delivery meets contractual obligations, airline service-level agreements and regulatory requirements.

Monitor and improve key operational measures, including on-time performance, baggage delivery, service quality, safety, customer satisfaction and compliance.

Coordinate effectively across passenger services, ramp, baggage and other operational functions to support seamless aircraft turnarounds.

Lead operational responses to disruptions, delays, emergencies and irregular operations, ensuring timely communication and sound decision-making.

Champion a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, hazard identification, risk management and compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Review operational performance and implement practical improvements that enhance efficiency, service delivery and employee capability.

Support the recruitment, onboarding, development and performance management of operational employees.

Promote a respectful, inclusive and high-performing workplace free from bullying, discrimination and harassment.
About you
You are an experienced aviation operations leader who understands the demands of delivering safe and reliable services within a busy airport environment. You are confident leading large operational teams, managing competing priorities and maintaining strong customer relationships under pressure.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:

Proven leadership or management experience within aviation, airport operations, ground handling or airline services.

Operational experience across passenger services, ramp, baggage or broader ground handling functions.

Demonstrated experience leading supervisors and frontline teams in a safety-critical, time-sensitive environment.

Strong knowledge of aviation safety, security, dangerous goods and regulatory compliance requirements.

Experience managing operational performance against airline service standards, contractual requirements and KPIs.

Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build credible relationships with airline customers and airport partners.

Sound judgement and the ability to lead calmly and decisively through disruptions and operational challenges.

Demonstrated capability in coaching leaders, managing performance and building engaged, accountable teams.

Strong organisational, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

A continuous-improvement mindset supported by strong attention to detail and operational discipline.
Experience in positions such as Terminal Manager, Passenger Services Manager, Ramp Manager, Airport Operations Manager, will be highly regarded.
