We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly analytical and commercially minded Finance Analyst to join our Aviation team at Melbourne Airport.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, Aviation, this is a hands-on role supporting financial performance across a broad and complex portfolio. You will play an important part in budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting, financial modelling and commercial analysis, working closely with stakeholders across multiple areas of the Aviation business.

Key responsibilities:
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Support the preparation and reporting of annual budgets and forecasts across the Aviation portfolio, identifying key cost and revenue drivers, risks, opportunities and savings initiatives

Maintain rolling forecasts and undertake scenario analysis to support business planning and informed decision-making
-
Play a hands-on role in month-end processes, including P&L reporting, expense and revenue reviews, reconciliations and variance analysis

Manage Aviation departmental P&L reporting, partnering with business stakeholders to understand cost trends and articulate risks and opportunities

Review financial results with management teams, providing clear analysis and insight into performance and full-year outcomes

Develop and maintain financial models supporting security recoveries, including analysis across security categories, terminals and airlines
-
Produce financial reporting and commentary for airline stakeholders, including performance against budgets and key measures
-
Provide analytical and commercial support across Aviation financials, forecasts, commercial initiatives and new capital investments

Support financial modelling, performance analysis and forward-looking forecasts, identifying potential risks to commercial outcomes

Support Terminal 1 budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting, invoicing, reconciliations and financial modelling

Provide responsive ad hoc analysis and commercially relevant recommendations to stakeholders across the Aviation business

Support external audit and regulatory requirements, ensuring financial information is accurate, well documented and able to withstand scrutiny
The successful candidate will have:

A tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce or a related discipline

CA or CPA qualification, or currently working towards completion

Approximately 3–5 years’ relevant experience, with flexibility for candidates who can demonstrate strong alignment to the role

Experience supporting a business unit within a large or complex corporate finance environment; candidates from Big Four audit backgrounds with strong transferable capability are also encouraged to apply

Strong hands-on experience across financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, month-end and P&L analysis

Advanced Excel capability, with confidence working across complex workbooks, formulas and large volumes of data

Strong analytical and financial modelling capability, with the ability to interpret data and translate it into meaningful commercial insights
-
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage, influence and follow up stakeholders across different levels of the organisation

Exceptional attention to detail and a strong appreciation for accuracy, particularly within a regulated and commercially sensitive environment

The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines
-
Strong financial acumen and a commercially focused mindset
-
The ability to work independently, grasp new concepts quickly and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment

Experience with Dynamics 365, Workday and/or Power BI would be advantageous
