About the role:
Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a highly capable Aviation Technical Training Specialist to join our P-8A sustainment and training team at RAAF Base Edinburgh.
This is a rare opportunity to combine your avionics technical expertise with your passion for training and capability development. In this role, you will help shape the future of P-8A fleet support by delivering high-quality maintenance training, developing courseware, and mentoring the next generation of aviation professionals.
You will play a critical role in ensuring P-8A training remains current, effective, and aligned to Defence and Boeing requirements, while working alongside a collaborative enterprise team supporting one of Australia's most important Defence aviation platforms.

Responsibilities:
As an Aviation Technical Training Specialist, you will:
- Deliver P-8A Avionics Maintenance courseware and instructional activities.
- Provide train-the-trainer coaching and mentoring to support emerging fleet capability.
- Analyse technical requirements and develop new maintenance training solutions.
- Collaborate with P-8A enterprise stakeholders to support training outcomes.
- Ensure courseware and curriculum meet Boeing Defence Australia policy, Defence Learning requirements, and DASA licensing and authorisation standards.
- Conduct learning reviews and continuous improvement activities to keep content accurate, relevant, and effective.
- Support the development of training solutions across complex avionics and mission systems environments.
Experience and Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates with:
- Recent avionics maintenance experience.
- Strong understanding of B737NG avionics systems.
- Experience with airborne radar, electronic warfare, acoustic warfare, and P-8A unique mission and avionics systems.
- Proven ability in instructor delivery and courseware development.
- Experience operating within and interpreting DASR 145, 147, and 66 requirements.
- MEA40618 Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics).
- P-8A or B737NG Type Certification with a B2 MAML or equivalent.
- Eligable to obtain and maintain NV1 Security Clearance.
Highly regarded experience includes:
- Previous Defence training or instructional experience.
- Exposure to sustainment, fleet introduction, or training systems development.
- Experience supporting aviation technical training in a Defence or regulated environment.
This role is based at RAAF Base Edinburgh, SA and is expected to be predominantly onsite due to the training and operational requirements of the position. Any flexibility will be subject to business needs.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet Defence security requirements and must be willing to undergo the standard government vetting process, including a full life background check. BDA will sponsor and support the required clearance process.
