In the position of Maintenance Engineer at Baxter-Cartago, your role is to keep production equipment and systems reliable and efficient. You also maintain quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
YouMaintenance Engineerare responsible for predictive, preventive, corrective, and reliability maintenance activities. You also supervise projects aimed at improving equipment and machinery. You ensure all work follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), regulatory requirements, and safety and environmental rules. Additionally, you lead all aspects of assigned budgets and human resources to support operational excellence, machinery dependability, and business objectives.
You play a key role in identifying equipment and process improvement opportunities. You support investigations related to equipment failures. You implement containment, corrective, and proactive measures to ensure operational continuity, efficiency, and compliance.

Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and regulations to guarantee that all activities, including equipment interventions, are performed safely.

Recruit, train, and supervise technical personnel to ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently and optimally.

Support and implement training programs involving multiple functions to improve both equipment readiness and service levels.

Be responsible for the plant maintenance system to increase and control equipment availability and reliability in alignment with operational targets.

Analyze equipment functions, failure modes, effects, and root causes to resolve most effective maintenance strategies and prevent unexpected downtime. Plan and lead asset renewal strategies based on equipment condition, performance, lifecycle requirements, and production needs.

Coordinate, complete, and/or supervise the design, construction, installation, modification, and improvement of facilities, utilities, and manufacturing equipment.

Provide support for equipment qualifications and validation activities as required. Control and handle the assigned maintenance budget and CAPEX portfolio, ensuring appropriate investments to support production performance, equipment reliability, and quality requirements.

You will improve external service providers and suppliers, including performance evaluations, contract negotiations, warranty administration, and technical support coordination.

Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Engineering. Lead activities focused on fixing issues, root cause investigations, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve equipment performance and operational reliability.

1Drive continuous improvement initiatives through the application of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Reliability Engineering, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and other problem-solving methodologies.

Ensure maintenance documentation, calibration records, asset information, and technical files are accurate, complete, and stay in sync with GMP, FDA, ISO, and company requirements.

Perform other functional responsibilities and engineering assignments related to the position, as required to support business and operational objectives.

Candidates must have completed at least 50% of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Maintenance Engineering. Alternatively,

0–2 years of experience in similar positions within Baxter or other manufacturing organizations.

Intermediate English proficiency (B2 level).
