Lead meaningful sustainability outcomes across one of Australia's largest Aboriginal organisations.
The Northern Land Council (NLC) is seeking an Environmental Sustainability Officer to help shape and drive the organisation's environmental sustainability agenda. This is a unique opportunity to influence organisational practices, contribute to environmental governance and help strengthen the NLC's commitment to sustainable operations and environmental stewardship.
About the Role:
Working within the Governance, Compliance and Risk team, you will play a key role in embedding environmental sustainability across the organisation. You will support the development and implementation of sustainability frameworks, coordinate climate and emissions reporting, and ensure compliance with Australian Government environmental reporting requirements.
This role will see you working across multiple service areas, engaging with stakeholders at all levels and contributing to strategic planning, governance and reporting activities. You will help translate complex legislative and policy requirements into practical actions that support organisational performance and environmental responsibility.
The position offers a rare opportunity to help build and shape sustainability capability within an organisation that works alongside Aboriginal people to protect and manage some of Australia's most significant land and sea estates.
What You Will Bring:
You are a motivated and organised professional with experience in environmental sustainability, governance, compliance, policy development or a related field. You enjoy working collaboratively, building productive relationships and influencing positive organisational outcomes.
You have strong analytical and communication skills and are comfortable preparing reports, interpreting legislation and supporting organisational initiatives. Most importantly, you are passionate about environmental sustainability and motivated by work that delivers meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal people, communities and Country.
In addition, you will have:

A Certificate IV qualification in Business Administration or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Experience in environmental sustainability, governance, compliance, quality assurance, policy development or a related field.

Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, briefings and submissions.

Experience coordinating projects, stakeholder engagement activities, meetings, training or organisational initiatives.

The ability to interpret legislation, policy requirements and governance frameworks and communicate them in plain English.

We offer:

A base salary of $79,870 per annum plus 15% superannuation and salary sacrificing up to $15,900 + Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefit up to $2,650 per year.
- Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:

District allowance of up to $4,884 (DA2) per annum for individuals with dependents and $2,678 (DA1) without dependents.

Generous leave provisions 5 weeks annual leave, 18 days personal leave;

Paid Christmas close down;
- Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $3,177;
