Primary objective
The Deputy Registrar-General assists the Senior Deputy Registrar General deliver registration services to the community
including dealings with land and other property, powers of attorney, births, deaths, marriages and changes of name, sex or
gender.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Hold and discharge statutory powers and functions of the Registrar-General.
2. Manage and monitor operational areas to ensure statutory and administrative requirements are met.
3. Be an authoritative source of advice on Lands Title and Births, Deaths and Marriages registration requirements.
4. Develop directions, regulations, policies, procedures and recommendations in relation to the delivery of electronic and
manually aligned registration services.
5. Advise practitioners, the general public and other government agencies on matters concerning administration of
relevant legislation.
6. Manage manual and electronic registration management systems.
7. Effectively manage the financial and human resources of the Office.
8. Implement changes required for the introduction of e Conveyancing in the Northern Territory.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated superior level written, oral, interpersonal, negotiation and cross-cultural communication skills.
2. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
3. Excellent communication, facilitation, interpersonal and team working skills including a high level of influencing ability.
4. High level management, leadership, conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Demonstrated experience in an operations management role.
6. Knowledge of legislation and electronic case management systems associated with Land Titles, E Conveyancing and
Births, Deaths and Marriages, or the ability to acquire such knowledge.
7. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in project management, change management or a relevant business discipline.
2. Admission or qualified for admission as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory
