About the role
MUFG Retirement Solutions (RS) business is seeking a Senior Manager, Technology Solutions within the technology team to provide strategic architecture leadership and solution design expertise across our administration platform landscape.
The Senior Manager, Technology Solutions leads technology solution design, delivery alignment and design governance across the assigned platform stream, ensuring teams deliver practical, scalable and maintainable outcomes that support business priorities and platform integrity. The role leads Technical Analyst (TA) and Solution Consulting (SC) functions, ensuring change and run work is aligned to enterprise architecture, technology strategy, product design, approved patterns, platform constraints, security expectations and regulatory obligations as well as in line with delivery commitments to clients,
The Senior Manager provides forward-looking leadership that builds team capability and capacity, drives continuous improvement, supports predictable delivery and uplifts engineering and design practices across MUFG Retirement Solutions.
Key responsibilities
Strategic leadership
- Set the solution design direction for the assigned technology platform stream, balancing strategy, delivery needs, operational resilience and quality outcomes.
- Ensure solution artefacts are fit for purpose and promote approved patterns, reuse, maintainability and quality.
- Contribute to the platform’s technical roadmap in partnership with Platform Services Owners and enterprise architecture
- Lead continuous improvement, simplification and modernisation opportunities that improve delivery effectiveness, platform performance and operational resilience and work with teams right across the SDLC to ensure effectiveness in the end-to-end delivery model
Technology delivery & execution
- Oversee design governance for the assigned stream, ensuring decisions are transparent, well controlled and consistently applied across delivery teams.
- Evaluate design risks, technical debt, and architectural impacts, escalating where required.
- Ensure solution proposals consider operational resilience, security controls, performance requirements, and future maintainability.
- Facilitate technical forums, design reviews
- Partner with Change & Run Delivery to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective and aligned to capacity, sequencing and delivery commitments.
- Lead adoption of change by setting clear direction, removing delivery blockers and embedding improved ways of working.
- Provide technical leadership through the entire delivery lifecycle—discovery, definition, build, testing, release, and operational transition.
- Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, risks, and integration challenges.
- Oversee capacity planning across the design teams ensuring supply meets demand and escalation of priority calls as required.
- Ensure solution designs incorporate security, data privacy, regulatory and operational resilience requirements.
- Maintain up‑to‑date architectural documentation to support audits, compliance reviews, and operational resilience planning.
People leadership
- Lead, coach and develop technical teams, building capability across digital solution design, integration, API management, data modelling and administration platform design.
- Support succession planning, mentoring and uplift of cross-functional technical knowledge.
- Manage team capacity, priorities and capability gaps so the right skills are aligned to delivery demand and future platform needs.
- Role-model MUFG values and foster a diverse, inclusive, engaged and high-performance culture.
Stakeholder engagement
- Engage with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions aligned with strategic priorities.
- Influence senior stakeholders on technology risks, solution trade‑offs, and architectural decisions.
- Evaluate third‑party technology solutions and vendor architectures, and technical proposals.
- Act as a key liaison between Technology, Operations, Transformation, and business units for delivery and operational planning.
- Ensure clear, consistent communication of commitments, progress, risks, changes and improvement initiatives.
Ensure user feedback, business strategy, and customer expectations guide platform priorities.

What you’ll bring
Must‑have experience
- 10+ Yrs of experience designing solutions across digital platforms, integration, APIs, workflow and legacy administration platforms
- Extensive experience in solution architecture, or technical design for complex, regulated and integrated environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into robust, scalable, secure technical solutions.
- Demonstrated senior leadership capability with experience managing technical teams, capacity, priorities and specialised architecture/design functions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and improve delivery quality, predictability and reuse across technology teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Proven problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify risks, constraints, and optimal solutions.
Highly regarded
- Experience in Australian Superannuation or Insurance Sectors or Financial Services
- Exposure to regulatory and risk‑driven environments, including strong cyber security considerations
Experience contributing to architecture governance or enterprise standards
