About the Clinic
Animal Emergency Service is one of Australia’s leading emergency and critical care referral centres. We deliver world class emergency veterinary medicine and gold standard patient care. Our purpose-built clinic at Hawthorn East is always bustling with exciting cases and an energetic atmosphere.

About the Role
As an emergency vet nurse, you will be involved in triage, hospital case management, surgery, critical nursing and critical case management. Experience exciting case diversity such as GDVs, impalements, hit by cars and in summer ticks and snakes. Our nurses also have access to trained Mental Health First Aid Officers, our wellbeing hub and an Employee Assistance Program for support on a range of matters.

What does vet nurse life at AES look like?

Hands on triage, pathology, radiography, treatments, surgery, and patient care
Less conversations with clients about money (dedicated client care team members)
Incredible case diversity with no two shifts the same
Collaborative approach to care between vets and vet nurses
Earning above Award rates with lucrative penalty rates on most shifts
Wildlife and exotics exposure
40-60 hours of PPT per fortnight to ensure you maintain good work-life balance

About You

Minimum of 1-year ECC experience or 5 years GP experience
Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
Thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced, and dynamic environment
Strong communication and team-work skills
Love of learning and continual improvement
Reliable mode of transport (essential for shift work)
Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays
Be part of a on call roster, picking up one shift a month
