We’re looking for a motivated veterinarian to join our team as a hospital vet to support our Oncology Specialist, working closely with our Oncology service and wider specialist team.
This is a casual position initially, with a clear pathway toward an internship or residency position for the right candidate.
Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre is a multi-disciplinary specialist hospital supporting referring veterinarians across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

About the role
This is a hands-on role designed to provide experience and development in veterinary oncology within a specialist hospital setting.
You’ll work closely with our Oncology service and broader specialist team to:

Support oncology consultations and case management
-
Assist with chemotherapy protocols and patient care
-
Participate in diagnostics, treatment planning, and follow-up

Communicate with referring veterinarians and clients
-
Contribute to the ongoing management of hospitalised oncology patients
You’ll also gain exposure to other specialty services across the hospital, supporting your overall clinical development.
Key responsibilities

Assist with oncology consultations and case workups

Support chemotherapy administration and monitoring

Inpatient care and case management

Client and referring vet communication

Maintain accurate medical records

Participate in ongoing learning and professional development
About you
-
Qualified veterinarian eligible to practice in Australia
-
Strong interest in Oncology and pursuing specialisation
-
Minimum 1–2 years’ clinical experience (preferred)

Highly motivated with a proactive approach to learning

Strong communication and organisational skills
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
-
Team-focused with a positive attitude
-
And most importantly — someone who enjoys being part of a team and is always up for a bit of humour and a laugh
