Salary grade 3.1, $81,496 per annum plus super.

About the Role:

As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of the State Building Surveyor functions, focussing on Council support and advice, guidance, training and education to registered building practitioners.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to develop their technical skills, gain exposure to building regulation and compliance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of building standards through the provision of advice, guidance, training education material. The Graduate Building Surveyor may also assist in assessing occupancy permits for prescribed temporary structures and places of public entertainment.

This graduate position forms part of a two-year program aimed at providing the first step to Graduate Building Surveyors and equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to establish a career in the building industry and achieve registration as a Building Surveyor.

What we are looking for:

A recent graduate with qualification in Building Surveying (AQF Level 6), or within 12 months of completing an AQF Level 7 or 8 Building Surveying qualification.
Sound knowledge of the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
Strong understanding of building construction practices, methods and terminology.
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate and professional reports, correspondence and documentation.
Advanced computer skills and a collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and build positive working relationships.
