The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Associate to support valuation, transaction, advisory, and business development activities across the Australia business.
This role offers significant exposure to a variety of industries, clients, and transaction types. Working closely with senior professionals across the business, you will be responsible for conducting financial and operational analysis, developing valuation models, supporting due diligence activities, preparing client deliverables, and contributing to business development initiatives.
The successful candidate will combine strong financial acumen with intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a desire to build a long-term career in valuation, advisory, and investment-related services.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Valuation

Analyze financial and operational data to develop valuation models, exit planning scenarios, and business insights that support client engagements and business development opportunities.

Build and maintain financial models to support new transactions, portfolio reviews, business assessments, and scenario analysis.

Assist with valuation assignments involving businesses, inventory, accounts receivable, machinery and equipment, and other assets across a variety of industries.

Perform detailed reviews of client financial performance, including revenue trends, gross margins, working capital, inventory management, accounts receivable performance, and operating expenses.

Apply valuation methodologies and analytical frameworks to support lending, restructuring, M&A, strategic advisory, insolvency, and financial reporting engagements.

Conduct research on comparable companies, transactions, market conditions, and industry trends to support valuation conclusions and client recommendations.
Due Diligence & Client Engagement

Conduct field examinations, site visits, and operational reviews to assess asset quality and business performance.

Support due diligence and audit activities by reviewing financial statements, management reporting, systems, and operational processes.

Identify risks, opportunities, and key drivers impacting value and business performance.

Participate in client meetings, management interviews, and project discussions.
Project Execution

Take ownership of workstreams and project deliverables across multiple engagements.

Prepare valuation reports, presentations, investment materials, and client deliverables.

Work collaboratively with analysts, valuation professionals, investment teams, and business leaders to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Think critically, identify issues, and develop practical recommendations to support client objectives.

Assist in preparing materials for internal review, investment committee submissions, and business development opportunities.
Business Development Support

Conduct research on prospective clients, industries, and market opportunities.

Prepare background analysis, industry overviews, and supporting materials for business development initiatives.

Support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and pitch materials.

Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external contacts to support business growth across the Australia platform.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
-
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.

3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, valuation, corporate finance, advisory, banking, lending, restructuring, supply chain, wholesale distribution, retail operations, or a comparable analytical environment.

Strong understanding of financial statements, financial analysis, and business performance drivers.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and advanced formulas.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Preferred

Experience with valuation methodologies including market comparable analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, and asset-based valuation approaches.

Experience supporting lending, insolvency, restructuring, M&A, acquisition accounting, or strategic advisory engagements.

Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms.

Knowledge of Australian insolvency, restructuring, or lending markets.

CPA, CA, ASA, CFA, or similar professional qualification, or progress toward obtaining one.
Travel
Domestic and occasional international travel may be required to support client engagements, site visits, and business development activities.
