The Opportunity
As a High Voltage Operating Coordinator (HVOC), you will be responsible for managing high voltage energisation, switching operations and access permitting activities across CPP's growing portfolio of projects. You will coordinate safe switching programs, support commissioning activities, maintain compliance with Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) and ensure personnel can safely access and work on live electrical assets.
This is a unique opportunity to join a specialised and growing function within CPP. You will be involved in some of Australia's most significant renewable energy and BESS projects, supporting project teams through complex energisation and commissioning stages while helping shape and strengthen CPP's HV operational systems and procedures.
The role is highly autonomous and suited to someone who enjoys being the technical authority on site, building strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained. You will work closely with project teams, engineers, commissioning teams, contractors and clients while supporting energisation activities from construction through to practical completion. Project rosters will vary depending on site requirements and commissioning phases, with flexibility available where operational requirements allow.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage high voltage energisation, switching and access permitting activities.
- Prepare, review and implement switching programs and switching sheets.
- Support delivery and compliance of CPP's Electrical Safety Rules and procedures.
- Issue and manage permits and isolations to ensure safe access to electrical assets.
- Work closely with project delivery, engineering and commissioning teams during energisation activities.
- Maintain operational records and authorisation documentation.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of CPP's HV operational systems and procedures.
- Support safe project delivery across renewable energy, substations and BESS projects nationally.
Skills and Experiences:
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Demonstrated high voltage switching experience, ideally within substations, transmission, generation, renewables or utility environments.
- Experience preparing switching programs, switching sheets and coordinating switching operations.
- Strong understanding of isolation, permitting and electrical safety processes.
- Proven ability to confidently enforce safety requirements and challenge unsafe behaviours when required.
- Experience working with high voltage equipment and complex energisation or commissioning activities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with project teams, contractors, clients and operational stakeholders
