Full Job Description

Great opportunity to join Youth Justice on an ongoing basis at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct.
Provide a range of confidential, personal and administrative support to the Director of Operations.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focussing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime.

Youth justice custodial centres accommodate young people aged 12-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Criminal Division of the Children's Court, and some 18-21 year olds sentenced by Adult Courts to a youth justice custodial centre.

The opportunity

Ongoing, full time position based at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct but working flexibly across other Youth Justice Custodial Precincts (Cherry Creek & Malmsbury), where needed to respond to operational requirements.
VPS3 role: $81,496 - $98,955 per year plus super.
Support the Director of Operations and Senior Managers within Youth Justice Custodial Services by providing a full range of executive, confidential, administrative, and operational support functions.
Support the day-to-day functions of the Senior Operations Team.
Effectively manage office processes and maintain corporate information systems, templates, tools and administrative processes to support records management, workflow coordination and financial administration.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism and discretion when dealing with sensitive matters, operational issues and stakeholder communications.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience in the provision of confidential, personal and administrative support functions to a senior manager or executive.
Exceptional communication skills, using clear and concise language to understand the motivation, needs and wants of stakeholders, clients and staff.
A strong understanding of the Microsoft Office suite and common programs and applications, with the ability to assist less proficient staff and colleagues.
A current driver's licence is required due to the need to work across different locations.

Understanding of DJCS policies and procedures and experience working in government is also desirable.

A current employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
