We currently have
two part-time opportunities available within our busy and supportive Cancer Centre at Wesley, providing administrative and secretarial support to our Medical Oncology specialists. These vacancies have arisen due to valued team members making changes to their working arrangements, creating a rare opportunity to join our highly regarded administration team.
About the Role
As a Medical Secretary, you will be the first point of contact for patients, carers and referrers, providing professional and compassionate administration support across our Medical Oncology practice. You will play an important role in coordinating patient appointments, managing specialist clinic administration, supporting billing processes and ensuring an exceptional experience for our patients during their cancer care journey.
This role requires outstanding customer service, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Position 1 - Medical Secretary (19.5 Hours Per Week)
Supporting doctors across Wesley and Ipswich clinics.
Roster:
- Monday - Wesley | 8:00am - 4:00pm (7.5 hrs)
- Thursday - Ipswich | 7:30am - 2:00pm (6.5 hrs)
- Friday - Wesley | 7:30am - 2:00pm (6.0 hrs)
Position 2 - Medical Secretary (17 Hours Per Week)
Roster:
- Monday | 1:30pm - 6:30pm (5 hrs)
- Tuesday | 1:30pm - 6:30pm (5 hrs)
- Friday | 8:00am - 3:30pm (7 hrs)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide reception and secretarial support to Medical Oncology specialists
- Coordinate patient appointments and clinic schedules
- Manage patient admissions, arrivals and outpatient processes
- Respond to telephone and email enquiries in a professional and empathetic manner
- Process medical billing, invoicing and payments
- Liaise with patients, carers, referrers and healthcare providers
- Support the smooth operation of specialist consulting clinics
- Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality at all times
About You
You will bring:
- Previous medical reception or medical secretarial experience
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- A professional, friendly and compassionate approach
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to multi-task and work effectively in a busy clinical environment
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook and medical practice management systems (highly regarded)
- A team-focused attitude and willingness to support colleagues across the centre
