Mactech Diesel Solutions is a growing, family-owned diesel and earthmoving equipment repair business based in Rocklea.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Mechanic to join our team and play an important role in supporting the next stage of our expansion.
This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced technician who enjoys working on the tools while also helping guide a team, coordinate daily workflow and maintain high standards of workmanship.
You will work closely with the owners to help keep the workshop running smoothly, support the development of our apprentices and junior technicians, and contribute ideas that improve how we operate.
You'll be joining a very small team where your experience, knowledge and ideas will genuinely be valued.

Your Responsibilities
Workshop Leadership & Team Support
- Help coordinate the daily workflow of the workshop and field service team.
- Allocate jobs and support technicians to ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Assist with prioritising planned servicing, repairs and urgent customer requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices and developing technicians.
- Lead by example and promote a positive, productive and safety-focused workplace.
- Assist with maintaining high standards of workmanship and job quality.
Hands-On Mechanical Work
- Carry out servicing, diagnostics and repairs on earthmoving equipment, trucks and diesel machinery.
- Assist with complex fault finding and technical repairs.
- Provide support and knowledge sharing to other technicians.
- Complete work to a high standard while maintaining efficiency.
Customer & Job Support
- Assist with assessing jobs and identifying repair requirements.
- Communicate additional repair recommendations clearly with the owners and office team.
- Work with the office team regarding job progress, parts requirements and scheduling.
Workshop Improvements
- Provide input into improving workshop processes, procedures and efficiency.
- Assist with developing practical systems that help the team work smarter.
- Support improvements around workshop organisation, stock control and job flow.
What We're Looking For
- Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter / Heavy Diesel Mechanic (or equivalent).
- Proven experience servicing and repairing earthmoving equipment, trucks and diesel machinery.
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Senior Technician or someone ready to step into a leadership role.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
- Ability to support and mentor apprentices and junior technicians.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with a small team.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute ideas.
- Current driver's licence (heavy vehicle licence highly regarded).
- Australian permanent resident or citizen.
Experience in a construction, civil, mining, heavy equipment or fleet environment will be highly regarded.

What We Offer
- $50–$60 per hour depending on experience.
- Monday to Friday | 7:00am – 3:00pm.
