Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
The Engineering Manager leads engineers and senior engineers across one or multiple squads. You will be accountable for building engaged, capable and high-performing engineering teams; ensuring engineering standards and ways of working are applied; managing engineering risks and dependencies; and supporting delivery of the Skyline roadmap from an engineering execution perspective.
The role requires someone with strong people leadership, engineering judgement, delivery awareness, stakeholder management and operational ownership. The Engineering Manager must be able to operate effectively with Product Managers, Delivery Leads, Tech Leads, Principal Engineers and senior stakeholders.

Engineering delivery leadership - Support delivery of the product roadmap from an engineering execution, define and track engineering delivery metrics, manage engineering risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies
Engineering ways of working - Establish and support engineering ceremonies, maintain Jira and Confluence hygiene for engineering artefacts, drive continuous improvement across squads
Engineering quality and technical health - Ensure engineering standards are met, work with Tech Leads and Principal Engineers to implement technical direction, support software quality improvement
Operational accountability - Support monitoring and process implementation, reduce repeat incidents through root cause analysis and durable improvements, support “you build it, you run it” behaviours where appropriate
People leadership - Coaching and feedback, performance management, career development
Engineering leadership - Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, ability to identify engineering risks and quality gaps, understanding of agile delivery, CI/CD, automation, testing and operational readiness
Delivery and operational management - Delivery planning with Delivery Leads, roadmap execution support with Product Managers, vendor and partner management
Stakeholder management - Clear communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders, ability to manage leadership relationships across product, delivery and engineering
