Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.
This newly created role will provide engineering leadership across the Loyalty and Coles Plus Accelerator transformation programs, accountable for delivery outcomes, engineering strategy, and the evolution of modern, scalable, and innovative technology solutions. This is a 2 year fixted term contract and the successful Senior Engineering Manager must have experience with financial management, loyalty, offer management or martech.

Provide end-to-end engineering leadership across transformation programs, defining and executing engineering strategy aligned to business outcomes and enterprise architecture

Own engineering decision-making across the domain, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and commercially optimised

Embed modern engineering practices (cloud-native, platform thinking, API-first, DevSecOps)

Identify, evaluate, and drive adoption of emerging technologies, including AI/ML, automation, and data-driven capabilities, to accelerate business value

Partner with architecture and data teams to assess AI maturity, define use cases, and prioritise experimentation and scaled adoption

Establish guardrails for responsible AI, ensuring compliance with privacy, security, and ethical standards

Foster a culture of innovation through proof-of-concepts, pilots, and continuous technology uplift

Ensure consistent, high-quality engineering delivery across multiple programs, balancing speed, quality, and risk

Drive alignment between engineering, product, architecture, and delivery to ensure execution against priorities

Maintain accountability for release governance, production readiness, and successful deployment across interconnected systems

Lead and develop a high-performing team across Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers, Technical Leads, Engineers, and Business Analysts

Create clear accountability across engineering and analysis functions to ensure alignment of design, delivery, and value realisation

Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence

Oversee engineering governance, including technical standards, design assurance, and quality controls

Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges across platforms, vendors, and business units

Own financial oversight of engineering delivery, ensuring optimal use of resources and alignment to business outcomes

Drive strong collaboration across engineering, architecture, product, delivery, security, and vendor partners

Influence senior stakeholders and peers to align on scalable, future-fit solutions

Provide clear executive reporting on delivery, risks, outcomes, and strategic opportunities

Ensure solutions are supportable and operationally robust, with clear ownership models and monitoring in place

Drive continuous improvement across engineering practices, tooling, and delivery processes
