We are seeking a qualified and experienced Engineering Technologist to join our team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
The Engineering Technologist is responsible for analysing, developing, implementing and improving manufacturing systems and engineering processes used in the production of precast concrete sleepers. The position applies engineering principles, manufacturing technology, quality assurance and process improvement methodologies to improve production efficiency, product consistency, equipment utilisation and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse manufacturing systems, equipment performance data and engineering processes to identify technical issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement engineering solutions to improve the efficiency, reliability and performance of production systems.
- Investigate manufacturing defects, equipment performance issues, process variations and quality non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
- Design and implement modifications to manufacturing systems, production equipment, process workflows and engineering procedures.
- Evaluate manufacturing equipment, mould systems, curing systems and material handling technologies and recommend improvements where required.
- Participate in the specification, testing, commissioning and integration of new equipment and manufacturing technologies.
- Optimise manufacturing processes associated with mould preparation, reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, curing, demoulding and product handling operations.
- Develop and maintain engineering specifications, technical procedures, quality control requirements and operational documentation.
- Conduct engineering risk assessments relating to manufacturing processes, equipment operation and workplace safety.
- Monitor compliance of manufacturing processes and finished products with engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering assessments and recommendations.
- Coordinate engineering projects involving equipment upgrades, process optimisation and automation initiatives.
- Liaise with management, production personnel, suppliers and contractors regarding technical and operational requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to operational personnel.
- Maintain engineering records, testing data, quality documentation and technical reports.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree or higher qualification in Engineering.
- Current Driver Licence.
Experience
● Minimum one year of experience in manufacturing, engineering technology, industrial operations, process improvement or a related engineering environment.
● Experience in precast concrete manufacturing, construction materials production, manufacturing engineering or heavy industrial operations.
● Experience analysing manufacturing processes, equipment performance and operational systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
● Experience implementing process improvements, quality control systems, engineering solutions and operational efficiencies.
● Experience participating in equipment upgrades, commissioning activities, technical investigations or engineering improvement projects.
● Experience preparing technical documentation, engineering reports and operational procedures is desirable.
Skills
● Strong analytical, technical problem-solving and engineering assessment skills.
● Knowledge of manufacturing systems, production technologies and continuous improvement principles.
● Ability to analyse equipment performance, manufacturing processes and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
● Ability to apply engineering principles and technical knowledge within a manufacturing environment.
● Knowledge of quality assurance systems, engineering risk assessment and workplace health and safety requirements.
● Strong technical communication, reporting and stakeholder liaison skills.
● Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, engineering procedures and operational records.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production or engineering documentation systems.
