Role Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Engineering Technologist / Production Supervisor to join our team on a full-time basis. You will play a crucial role in driving the success and growth of our concrete sleeper’s factory. Reporting directly to the Operations and General Manager you will be responsible for analysing, improving, and supervising our precast concrete sleeper manufacturing operations. Overseeing and enhancing various aspects of our manufacturing processes, capacity, factory expansions, and factory automation. Your primary goal will be to ensure operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and a strong commitment to safety and sustainability. Your strategic thinking, engineering technical expertise, and leadership skills will be essential in guiding projects from conception to completion.
As the Engineering Technologist / Production Supervisor , you will be vital to ensuring the company values, culture and behaviours are adhered to and promoted to retain the current talented workforce, build supplier relations, and improve brand identity.
Key Responsibilities
- -Production Supervision: Coordinate and lead a production team of approximately six staff to meet daily/weekly targets, quality standards, and workplace procedures.
- -Process Analysis & Improvement: Review existing production workflows, equipment use (demoulding systems, oiling equipment, mould handling, production tables), and material movement to eliminate bottlenecks and reduce defects.
- -Technical Guidance: Apply engineering knowledge to support efficient production methods across mould preparation, reinforcement placement, curing, and dispatch. Provide on-the-job training to staff.
- -Quality Control: Inspect raw materials, moulds, reinforcement positioning, and finished concrete sleepers to ensure all products rigidly meet workplace specifications.
- -Operations & Planning: Assist with daily/weekly production scheduling, ensure tool and material availability, and maintain accurate production, stock, and maintenance records.
- -Safety Leadership: Cultivate a safe working culture, enforcing workplace health and safety compliance, hazard identification, and safe forklift interaction zones.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- -Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering Technology, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Experience
- -Minimum 2–3 years of experience in manufacturing, production supervision, industrial operations, or a related engineering environment.
- -Industry Context: Experience in precast concrete, construction materials manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations.
- -Licences: Current Driver's and a Forklift Victorian licences.
Skills
- Strong leadership abilities, analytical problem-solving skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and an uncompromised commitment to workplace health and safety.
