Your impact
Jacobs’ Energy & Power Advisory team sits at the forefront of the energy transition, helping clients navigate complex, rapidly evolving electricity and gas markets across APAC. We combine deep market expertise with advanced quantitative modelling to deliver strategic insights on market behaviour, investment decisions, policy, and system transformation. Our work spans power market analytics, regulatory design, decarbonisation pathways, and commercial advisory, supporting governments, developers, investors, and utilities to make confident, future focused decisions.
As demand grows for more sophisticated, data-driven insights, our team continues to evolve, integrating advanced modelling techniques, automation, and innovative tools to stay ahead of market change. Through our work, we play a key role in shaping the future of energy systems, supporting the transition to low-carbon, reliable and economically sustainable power markets. This role will contribute to ensuring our modelling and insights directly influence how the region invests in and delivers the energy transition.
Jacobs is seeking a highly experienced Senior PLEXOS Consultant to join our growing Energy Markets team within our Energy & Power business. In this role, you will be a key technical specialist responsible for developing, maintaining and interpreting complex PLEXOS models that inform investment decisions, market analysis, policy development and strategic planning across Australia's evolving energy sector. Working alongside economists, engineers and market specialists, you'll help clients navigate some of the most significant challenges and opportunities associated with the energy transition. This opportunity is ideally suited to someone who is highly proficient in PLEXOS and has a strong understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM), market dynamics and power system operations.
Key responsibilities: #LI-KH1
Develop, maintain and enhance complex PLEXOS models for electricity market analysis and forecasting.
Deliver market modelling studies across areas such as dispatch, pricing, reliability, capacity expansion, investment planning and MLF/Curtailment forecasting.
Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess market, policy and technology impacts.
Interpret modelling outputs and translate complex results into clear insights for clients and stakeholders.
Support advisory engagements across generation, storage, transmission and broader energy market projects.
Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the ongoing development of Jacobs' market modelling capability.
Here's what you'll need
Strong and demonstrated expertise using PLEXOS, with the ability to independently develop, run and interpret complex market models.
Deep understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and broader Australian energy market dynamics.
Experience applying market modelling to investment analysis, forecasting, strategy, policy or regulatory studies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience managing large datasets and complex assumptions.
Exposure to Python, R, VBA or similar tools for automation and data analysis.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
