In this once in a lifetime role, you will work as part of a team which establishes and maintains a safe, navigable entrance to the Tweed River and restore and maintain the coastal sand drift to the beaches on the southern Gold Coast of Queensland.

You will support the operational and maintenance activities aligned with the TSB’s asset management plan and relevant operations and maintenance schedules. You will ensure operational efficiency in a safe and compliant manner. Your role involves overseeing preventative maintenance plans, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize the sand bypassing processes. By skilfully managing risks to people, plant, equipment and infrastructure, you’ll play a crucial part in maintaining the high standards and smooth operation
This would include:
- Collecting and interpreting SCADA data and solving problems in a fast-paced environment.
- A chance to create an operational plan to make the site more productive and efficient
- Coordinate and work with external trades and subcontractors in executing maintenance requirements.
- Performing a wide range of routine and complex manual tasks, including the use of a variety of small plant and powered and non-powered hand tools

About you
You are a tradesman or skilled general labourer with a proven track record of hands-on mechanical equipment and pipeline network maintenance. You are someone who has previous experience in a multi-skilled civil, marine or industrial operations and maintenance environment. You possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills and are a dedicated, supportive, and open minded professional who loved to add values to their team.
In addition, you:
- Have demonstrated experience with the installation, repair, observation and maintenance of industrial pumping systems and pipeline networks.
- Possess knowledge of monitoring and operating pumping systems through Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Ability to interpret SCADA data, troubleshoot and implement solutions.
- Possess all relevant and current qualifications to undertake all operational and maintenance activities for daily duties (e.g. Front-End Loader, EWP 11m+, Forklift, Work at Heights, First Aid, Rigging etc). Trade qualifications in Electrical / PLC, Boiler making, Pipe Fitting / Mechanical Plumbing etc will be highly regarded but not essential.
- Be understanding of the multi skilled nature of the work and the varying environmental conditions in which tasks must be undertaken.
- Possess a valid Australian driving licence and preferably a Heavy Vehicle Medium Rigid driver’s license.
- Are willing to work outside regular working hours including occasional overtime and on call duties.
Please note –Salary is Maritime Officer 11- ($128,435.00/annum plus super) The role is located in Fingal Head- NSW and is not a Hybrid+ arrangement. No costs, allowances or exceptions to the TfNSW vehicle policy will be provided to staff in relation to travel to and from Fingal Head to conduct the duties of the role. Upon appointment the successful candidate must permanently reside within a maximum of one (1) hour’s commuting distance from the office located on Letitia Road at Fingal Head.
