Your Role

Chanel College is seeking a vibrant, efficient, and energetic person for the position of Finance Assistant (School Fees). This is a term-time continuing position for 25 hpw (or as negotiated with the successful applicant), commencing as soon as possible (or as negotiated with the successful applicant).

The Finance Assistant will apply a depth of knowledge and a broad range of skills which facilitate the financial management and administration of the college.

Typical duties performed include, but are not limited to:

Practicing confidentiality in relation to all aspects of the role
Working within school guidelines and procedures and in consultation with the Principal, undertake the collection of outstanding debts.
Follow up on overdue family fee accounts as required according to the relevant school procedures and maintain the confidentiality of all debtors.
Build rapport and trusted relationships with families to assist in developing tailored solutions to allow them the opportunity to meet financial commitments.
Manage EasyPay payments - calculate instalment payment amounts, process payments and returns and recalculate instalment amounts where required.
Determine eligibility to school fee discounts, calculate and process all fee discounts.
Assist in the administration of applications for fee concessions.
Monitor the eligibility and expiry of Concession Cards. Prepare accounts for school fees and sundry items.
Assist with counter and telephone enquiries from parents regarding school fee/excursion payments.
Oversee accounts payable and administer the weekly payment schedule.
Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable, accounts payable and the general ledger using the TASS program.

About you

The successful applicant will have an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic education. In addition you will have excellent time management skills, well developed interpersonal skills and a high proficiency of computer skills.

Previous experience in a busy school office would be advantageous.

Mandatory Requirements

A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
