About Us

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The MCV determines in excess of 200,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, dealing with over 90 percent of all adult cases that come before Victorian courts each year. MCV aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

Specialist Courts and Programs (SCP) are the MCV Directorate responsible for driving the implementation and development of solution-focused and therapeutic approaches to justice. Our specialist responses address the underlying causes of offending behaviour and stop the “revolving door” of returning to court for individuals.

Current services include:

Court Support and Diversion Services (CISP, ARC, CROP, Criminal Justice Diversion)
Drug Court
Koori Court
the Neighbourhood Justice Centre
the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal

Court Support Services programs include the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP), the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC) and the Court Remand Outreach Program (CROP). These programs provide a range of initiatives to assist accused persons and others involved in the court system, who are experiencing issues of social or cultural disadvantage, including substance abuse, disability, mental illness, or cognitive impairment. These programs use a client-centred and problem-solving approach that empowers clients to engage with their rehabilitation and achieve positive behavioural change.

About the Role

The Court Remand Outreach Program (CROP) supports people on remand who may be eligible for bail if appropriate community supports are in place. Operating across Victorian prisons, the program works with individuals experiencing complex challenges including mental health issues, substance use, disability, homelessness and other forms of social disadvantage.

As Team Leader, you will provide operational leadership for a multidisciplinary team delivering assessments and brief case planning for people on remand. Reporting to the Manager, you will lead staff to deliver high-quality, evidence-informed services, while overseeing performance, risk management, service consistency and stakeholder engagement.

This role combines strong people leadership with practice oversight. You will work closely with courts, legal representatives, correctional services and community agencies to ensure coordinated support and positive client outcomes.

As a key leader within Court Services Victoria and the Magistrates' Court of Victoria, you will contribute to solution-focused and therapeutic approaches to justice that address the underlying causes of offending and support lasting change.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader with expertise in complex case management, therapeutic practice and stakeholder engagement to make a significant impact within Victoria's justice system.

About You

You are an experienced and values-driven leader with a strong background in assessment and/or case management for clients with multiple and complex needs.
You bring demonstrated experience leading and supervising practitioners, supporting staff wellbeing, professional development, and safe practice in high-risk environments.
You are confident working in custodial and court-related settings, apply evidence-informed and person-centred approaches, and build strong, respectful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
You are organised, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement, equity, and delivering meaningful outcomes for vulnerable clients within the justice system.
A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology or a related discipline, and/or equivalent relevant experience, is desirable.
