Principal Software Engineer (.NET/Python, AI)
Lead the build of agentic AI solutions that help modernise lending decisioning and risk workflows.
Shape secure, enterprise-grade software across .NET, Python, AWS, APIs and modern engineering practices.
Play a stream-level technical leadership role across multiple squads while staying hands-on with engineering and delivery.
Do work that matters
As a Principal Software Engineer, you’ll help lead engineering for AI-enabled decisioning platforms. You’ll bring deep software engineering strength and practical experience applying generative AI or agentic patterns to real-world products. This role is both hands-on and strategic: leading one squad as a technical lead while helping shape technical direction and delivery outcomes across a broader stream.
See yourself in our team
In Consumer Underwriting crew, we help our customers access banking products to meet their lending needs. We are redefining how customers interact with us through a seamless digital application process, while building enterprise-grade AI platforms that unlock better lending experiences through modern engineering and agentic AI.
Grow. Belong. Shape what’s next.
In this role, you will:
Lead the design, build and operation of secure .NET and Python services, APIs and AI-enabled workflows for lending and risk use cases
Apply practical experience building AI applications or agentic workflows to help lift capability across the crew
Guide architectural decisions, code quality, CI/CD, testing, resilience and observability as platforms scale from MVP to enterprise-grade capability
Work across squads as a stream-level technical leader, helping align engineering outcomes while remaining an individual contributor
Partner closely with engineers, data specialists, product leaders and platform teams to turn ideas into secure, production-ready solutions on AWS
Help modernise customer and banker experiences through reusable APIs, cloud-native services and AI-led innovation
We’re interested in hearing from people who…
We’re keen to hear from engineers with strong fundamentals in modern software engineering who have also applied GenAI or agentic AI in practice. You may have built those capabilities in a regulated environment, in another industry, or through meaningful side projects, what matters is your ability to translate that experience into safe, scalable outcomes.
Experience in several of the following will set you up for success:
Deep software engineering capability in .NET and/or Python, with experience building production-grade services and APIs at scale
Practical experience delivering AI applications, agentic workflows or GenAI-enabled products, with the ability to explain what you built and how it created value
Strong experience with AWS and modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, observability and secure delivery
Ability to lead technically across squads, influence direction and uplift engineering capability without formal people management responsibility
Exposure to data-heavy environments or cloud data services such as EMR, Glue, event streams or modern data products would be valuable, though not essential
A collaborative, outcome-focused mindset and the ability to solve complex problems in a highly accountable engineering environment
