Lead MongoDB Atlas Developer

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead MongoDB Atlas Developer to join a technology team responsible for providing reliable, scalable and well-supported database capabilities across the organisation.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience in MongoDB administration, database operations, data modelling, performance optimisation and troubleshooting, along with a good understanding of MongoDB development practices.
You will work closely with engineering and delivery teams to onboard new initiatives to MongoDB, provide technical guidance during solution development and testing, and support the resolution of production issues.
Experience with MongoDB Atlas is highly desirable, although candidates with strong MongoDB administration experience and the ability to quickly adapt to Atlas will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on MongoDB administration and operational support across development, testing and production environments.
- Support new initiatives onboarding to MongoDB, including guidance during solution design, development, testing and production readiness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex MongoDB-related application, database and operational issues.
- Work closely with engineering and delivery teams to improve MongoDB usage patterns and database reliability.
- Provide hands-on support and technical guidance to MongoDB developers.
- Advise development teams on effective approaches to:
- MongoDB schema design
- Data modelling
- Query optimisation
- Indexing
- Database performance
- Application/database interaction
- Support database administration activities including bulk data loading, data migration, backup and recovery.
- Assist with database performance monitoring, troubleshooting and optimisation.
- Support operational readiness activities for MongoDB-based solutions.
- Provide basic technical and solution architecture guidance for MongoDB implementations.
- Work with engineering, infrastructure, application and delivery teams to resolve database-related issues.
- Establish and promote MongoDB administration, development and operational best practices.
- Contribute to automation, documentation, testing and continuous improvement of database operations.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience administering and supporting MongoDB environments.
- Strong working knowledge of MongoDB administration and operations.
- Good understanding of MongoDB database design and development practices.
- Experience supporting MongoDB developers through:
- Solution development
- Testing
- Production deployment
- Production issue resolution
- Strong understanding of MongoDB data modelling and schema design.
- Experience with MongoDB queries, indexing and performance optimisation.
- Experience with database troubleshooting and production support.
- Working knowledge of bulk data loading and data migration.
- Experience with database backup and recovery processes.
- Good understanding of database operational readiness and reliability.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to provide practical technical guidance to engineering and delivery teams.
Highly Desirable Skills
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB Atlas.
- Experience managing MongoDB databases in cloud environments.
- Experience with Atlas clusters, monitoring, backups and security.
- Experience with MongoDB Atlas connectivity and access management.
- Experience with MongoDB performance monitoring and optimisation.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise MongoDB environments.
- Experience with automation and infrastructure/platform tooling.
- Knowledge of MongoDB security, authentication and authorisation.
- Experience working with development teams on MongoDB-based applications.

Pay: $550.00 – $700.00 per day
