Business Development Manager

JRNY Digital | Full-Time | Remote | Australian Business Hours

We have the leads. We need someone who can close them.

JRNY Digital is a growing digital marketing agency working with businesses across Australia. We help businesses grow through paid advertising, SEO, creative and conversion-focused digital marketing.

We're looking for a Business Development Manager to take ownership of our new business pipeline and help turn more opportunities into clients.

This is a full-cycle sales role, with a strong focus on closing.

We already generate a steady flow of inbound enquiries and qualified opportunities. You'll take those prospects from the initial conversation through to signed agreement.

At the same time, you'll be expected to build an additional source of pipeline for JRNY through proactive business development, partnerships, referrals and targeted outbound activity.

In short: we'll give you plenty of opportunities to close, but we also want you thinking about where the next opportunities will come from.

What you'll be doing

Own and close inbound opportunities

Respond quickly to new inbound enquiries and qualify opportunities
Run discovery and sales calls with business owners and decision-makers
Understand their business, goals, challenges and current marketing
Identify where JRNY can genuinely create value
Recommend the right strategy and solution based on their needs
Present proposals and confidently communicate our offering
Handle objections, negotiate and move opportunities toward a decision
Follow up consistently throughout the sales process
Close new clients and manage the process through to handover
Keep HubSpot updated and maintain a clean, accurate sales pipeline

Build additional pipeline

Inbound won't be your only source of business.

You'll also be responsible for developing new opportunities through:

Targeted outbound prospecting
LinkedIn and email outreach
Referral and partnership opportunities
Networking and relationship building
Re-engaging previous prospects and opportunities
Identifying businesses that are a strong fit for JRNY
Testing new channels and approaches to generate qualified opportunities

You won't be expected to spend your entire day cold calling random businesses.

The majority of your time will be spent selling and closing. But we want you to build an additional lead source that JRNY can grow over time.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a proven salesperson who knows how to close.

You'll ideally have:

Proven experience in B2B sales, business development or a similar commercial role
A track record of personally closing new business
Experience managing a sales process from first conversation through to signed agreement
Strong discovery and consultative selling skills
Confidence speaking with business owners and senior decision-makers
Strong objection handling and negotiation skills
Excellent follow-up and pipeline management habits
Experience working toward revenue or sales targets
Strong CRM discipline, ideally with HubSpot experience
A commercial mindset and genuine drive to hit targets
The initiative to generate your own opportunities when needed

We care much more about your ability to sell than your ability to talk about selling.

If you can show us that you've consistently closed deals, managed a pipeline and generated revenue, that's what we're interested in.

Digital marketing experience is a big plus

You don't need to be a technical marketer.

But you'll be selling digital marketing services, so an understanding of Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO, websites, lead generation and conversion will be highly valuable.

You should be able to have an intelligent commercial conversation with a business owner about what's working, what's not and where they could be losing opportunities.

We'll teach you the JRNY way.

You bring the sales ability.

What success looks like

You'll be measured on outcomes, not just activity.

Your key metrics will include:

Inbound lead-to-opportunity conversion
Sales conversion rate
New MRR generated
Total revenue closed
Average deal value
Sales pipeline value
Speed to lead
Follow-up consistency
Self-generated opportunities and revenue

The goal is simple:

Close more of the opportunities JRNY generates while building another reliable source of new business.
