As the organisation continues to maintain and develop its operational systems and technology environment, Oasis Care is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to manage and support its servers, software systems, databases, user access, backups and wider ICT infrastructure. The position will play an important role in maintaining system reliability, security, data integrity and continuity of technology services supporting the organisation's care operations.
About the Role
Oasis Care is seeking an experienced and motivated Systems Administrator to join its team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, maintaining, installing, troubleshooting and supporting the organisation's operating systems, server hardware, software applications and databases. The role will also oversee user access, system security, backup and recovery processes, software updates, system performance monitoring and technical documentation.
Working closely with operational and care teams, the Systems Administrator will provide day-to-day technical support and ensure ICT systems remain secure, reliable and available to support uninterrupted service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, install, configure, maintain and support the organisation's operating systems, server hardware, software applications and associated ICT infrastructure.
- Manage and maintain server, endpoint and cloud-based environments, including Microsoft 365 and related business systems.
- Administer user accounts, access permissions and security controls, including staff onboarding and offboarding and periodic access reviews.
- Monitor system performance, availability and operational integrity, investigate incidents and diagnose server, software, workstation and communication infrastructure issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and implement software updates, operating system upgrades and security patches to maintain system performance and security
- Establish, maintain and periodically test backup and recovery procedures to support business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.
- Implement and maintain appropriate security, integrity and access controls across operating systems, databases, applications and ICT environments.
- Maintain system, configuration and database documentation, including technical procedures, system logs, recovery procedures, access records and operational instructions.
- Test system changes, software upgrades and database updates, including debugging, tracking, documenting and resolving identified technical issues in accordance with established procedures.
- Troubleshoot and provide technical support in diagnosing and resolving server-related hardware and software malfunctions, including workstations, endpoints and communication infrastructure.
- Maintain and review database structures, records and data integrity to support the accuracy, completeness and reliable operation of organisational systems.
- Liaise with external ICT vendors, suppliers and service providers regarding technical issues, software services, system maintenance, security solutions and service performance.
- Monitor service delivery and vendor performance against agreed service requirements and escalate unresolved technical or contractual matters where required.
- Monitor and adjust the performance of networks and related infrastructure to maintain reliable connectivity and system access across operational sites.
- Review the organisation's current ICT environment and identify future infrastructure requirements, recommending enhancements to servers, networks, software and related technologies.
- Provide day-to-day ICT support to staff and operational teams, including troubleshooting user access, device, software and system issues.
- Maintain accurate records of ICT assets, system configurations, maintenance activities, incidents and software environments to support operational control and audit requirements.
- Support compliance with applicable data protection, privacy, information security and organisational requirements relevant to a regulated care environment.
Required Skills and QualificationsQualification and Employment:
A relevant Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Administration, or a related field.
OR
At least five (5) years of relevant full-time experience in systems administration, ICT infrastructure, server administration or a closely related field, and/or relevant vendor certification may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
A minimum of one (1) year of recent relevant full-time experience working as a Systems Administrator or in a closely related systems and infrastructure role.
Required Skills and Attributes
1. Demonstrated experience administering and supporting operating systems, servers, software applications and associated ICT infrastructure.
2. Strong knowledge of user account administration, access permissions, security controls and identity management.
3. Demonstrated experience maintaining backup schedules and testing recovery and disaster recovery procedures.
4. Experience applying software updates, operating system upgrades, security patches and preventative maintenance procedures.
5. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across servers, software, hardware, databases, workstations and communication infrastructure.
6. Experience testing system changes, software upgrades and database updates and resolving technical faults identified during testing.
7. Sound knowledge of database administration, data integrity, system documentation and operational record keeping.
8. Experience liaising with ICT vendors, suppliers and external service providers and monitoring service delivery requirements.
9. Knowledge of network monitoring and troubleshooting principles, with the ability to coordinate with network and infrastructure providers when required.
10. Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple technical priorities.
11. Ability to prepare and maintain technical documentation, procedures, system logs, configuration records and operational instructions.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide technical support and guidance to non-technical staff.
13. Strong understanding of information security, privacy, data protection and workplace compliance requirements relevant to organisational ICT environments.
14. Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining system reliability and responding effectively to operational incidents.
