Advance Institute Australia is seeking an experienced and motivated Trainer and Assessor to deliver and assess the CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).

About the Role
As a Trainer and Assessor, you will deliver engaging training and conduct competency-based assessments for students enrolled in the CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).
The qualification prepares learners for roles such as Builder, General Foreperson and Building Inspector, covering residential construction up to National Construction Code (NCC) Class 1 and 10 buildings (maximum three storeys) and commercial Class 2–9 Type B and C buildings. Training includes structural principles, estimating, contract administration, risk management, financial management, site supervision and quality management.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality classroom, online and workplace-based training.
- Conduct valid, fair and reliable competency-based assessments.
- Facilitate practical learning activities using real or simulated construction environments.
- Assess student competency in accordance with the CPC Training Package and RTO requirements.
- Provide constructive feedback and learner support.
- Maintain accurate student, assessment and compliance records.
- Participate in validation, moderation and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain vocational competency and current industry knowledge.
- Ensure all training and assessment practices comply with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and organisational policies.
Essential RequirementsTraining and Assessment Qualifications
Applicants must hold one of the following (or an equivalent credential recognised under current regulatory requirements):
- TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
- another approved training and assessment qualification.
Vocational Qualifications
Applicants must hold:
- CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building); or
- CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building); or
- a higher-level qualification in Building, Construction Management or a related discipline that demonstrates vocational competency relevant to the qualification being delivered and assessed.
Industry Experience
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A recent industry experience in the building and construction industry.
- Experience in one or more of the following roles:
- Builder
- Construction Manager
- General Foreperson
- Site Manager
- Construction Supervisor
- Building Inspector
- Project Manager
- Contracts Administrator
- Demonstrated experience managing residential and/or commercial building projects.
- Strong knowledge of:
- National Construction Code (NCC)
- Australian Standards
- Building contracts and contract administration
- Estimating and cost control
- Project planning and scheduling
- Risk management
- Quality assurance
- Work Health and Safety (WHS)
- Building legislation and regulatory compliance.
- Current industry skills and knowledge relevant to the qualification.
Additional Requirements
- Demonstrated vocational competency relevant to CPC50220.
- Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to engage and support adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Commitment to maintaining professional development and industry currency.
- Current Working with Children Check (where required).
- Current General Construction Induction (White Card) is highly desirable.
Desirable
- Previous experience delivering training within a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
- Experience delivering Diploma-level construction qualifications.
- Knowledge of competency-based training and assessment.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Student Management Systems (SMS).
- Experience developing learning and assessment resources.
- Experience participating in assessment validation and moderation.
