Shift Supervisor – Townsville

Every day we transport millions of tonnes of critical freight around the country for our customers. We haul coal, intermodal containers, steel, and bulk commodities that keep Australia moving.

An opportunity has presented itself for a Shift Supervisor to join our team in Townsville QLD.

What You’ll Do

Supervise terminal operations and plan freight services to deliver safe, efficient and customer-focused outcomes.

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will:

Supervise and coordinate a team of operational employees to achieve performance targets
Plan and manage arriving and departing freight services, ensuring efficiency and accuracy
Oversee train loading activities to maximise capacity and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Coordinate daily terminal operations including forklift loading plans and locomotive movements
Ensure optimal utilisation of assets and resources across the terminal
Liaise with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to support operational planning and service delivery
Prepare operational schedules and maintain accurate data in TMS and related systems
Proactively resolve operational issues while maintaining safety and service standards

What You’ll Bring

Demonstrated experience supervising or leading teams in an operational environment
Strong planning and coordination experience, ideally within logistics, transport, or freight
A customer-focused mindset with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including MS Excel
Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
High level of personal accountability and commitment to safety leadership
Rail operations experience desired but not critical
