About the Opportunity

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a passionate, strategic and emotionally intelligent School-Link Coordinator to strengthen the connection between schools and Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Greater Newcastle. This is a senior coordinating role suited to a forward-thinking professional who thrives on systems thinking, collaboration and problem-solving. You’ll work autonomously acting as a trusted connector between education settings and mental health services to support better outcomes for young people.

About the Role

In this influential role, you will:

Build and maintain strong partnerships between schools, CAMHS, and key stakeholders in the Greater Newcastle area.
Provide high-level consultative advice to schools and services on youth mental health support pathways
Act as a key mediator, navigating and resolving differences between education and health perspectives
Support early identification, coordinated responses and smoother referral pathways for young people
Drive proactive, system-wide solutions that improve collaboration and service integration
Represent the region in strategic forums and contribute to statewide initiatives

This role requires confidence, independence and the ability to operate comfortably in complex environments where competing priorities exist.

About You

You are:

A systemic thinker who sees the big picture and proactively finds solutions
Highly emotionally intelligent, with strong influencing and networking skills
Comfortable working independently in a senior role
Experienced in school-based environments (e.g. school counselling, teaching, wellbeing, or CAMHS-school partnerships)
Passionate about youth mental health and improving connections between education and health systems
Skilled at mediation, consultation and stakeholder engagement across diverse services
Calm, credible and confident when navigating complexity and conflict

Essential Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in an education or health-related discipline, or equivalent work experience or a combination of relevant study and work experience.
Valid unrestricted drivers' licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
