About the role
Join the Intensive Care Unit at Calvary Mater Newcastle, a Level 5 tertiary ICU providing specialised care for a diverse range of critically ill adult patients. As part of our dedicated and supportive team, you will participate in a structured 12-month Transition to Specialty Practice Program commencing in February 2027, designed to support nurses developing their critical care knowledge, skills, and confidence.
The position is offered at 0.8 FTE and involves working a rotating 7-day roster, including morning, afternoon, night, weekend, and public holiday shifts. Participants will complete five structured learning pathways incorporating online My Health Learning modules and locally delivered study days, combined with comprehensive clinical support and mentorship from experienced critical care clinicians.

Your main duties will include
Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients while developing specialty practice knowledge and skills within a supportive Level 5 Intensive Care Unit environment
Participate in the 12-month Transition to Specialty Practice Program, including completion of the five learning pathways, My Health Learning modules, study days, and associated clinical learning activities
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, while contributing to a culture of continuous learning, quality improvement, and patient-centred care

Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
