Full Job Description

Yunta Truckstop is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our busy kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in preparing quality meals for truck drivers, travellers and local customers.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cook and present a variety of meals in accordance with established

recipes and customer requirements.

Inspect food ingredients and supplies to ensure freshness, quality and

compliance with food safety standards.

Operate and monitor commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers

and other cooking appliances.

Season, prepare and cook meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables and other menu

items.

Ensure meals are portioned and presented to a high standard before service.
Prepare sauces, gravies, curries, burgers, sandwiches and other hot food items.
Store food safely in temperature-controlled facilities and maintain stock rotation

procedures.

Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment in accordance with food

safety regulations.

Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering supplies and minimise food wastage.
Prepare meals to accommodate special dietary requirements and customer

preferences.

Assist with menu planning and estimating food production requirements.
Train and supervise kitchen assistants and other staff as required.
Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining food quality and

consistency.

Skills & Experience

Relevant qualification (Certificate 3 or 4) in Commercial Cookery or at least 1

year of relevant work experience.

Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety

practices.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when

required.

Competitive salary package of $70,000 – $80,000 plus superannuation, based on

skills and experience.
