Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present a variety of meals in accordance with established
recipes and customer requirements.
- Inspect food ingredients and supplies to ensure freshness, quality and
compliance with food safety standards.
- Operate and monitor commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers
and other cooking appliances.
- Season, prepare and cook meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables and other menu
items.
- Ensure meals are portioned and presented to a high standard before service.
- Prepare sauces, gravies, curries, burgers, sandwiches and other hot food items.
- Store food safely in temperature-controlled facilities and maintain stock rotation
procedures.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment in accordance with food
safety regulations.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering supplies and minimise food wastage.
- Prepare meals to accommodate special dietary requirements and customer
preferences.
- Assist with menu planning and estimating food production requirements.
- Train and supervise kitchen assistants and other staff as required.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining food quality and
consistency.
Skills & Experience
- Relevant qualification (Certificate 3 or 4) in Commercial Cookery or at least 1
year of relevant work experience.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety
practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when
required.
