About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute General Manager of Operations to lead and oversee operations across the Pilbara region.
This is a senior executive leadership opportunity for a highly capable professional with demonstrated expertise in operational leadership, business growth, commercial management, and client relationship development within the Integrated Services mining and contracting sectors.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the General Manager of Operations will be responsible for the overall operational performance, profitability, business growth, strategic direction, and service delivery across multiple business units including Mining Civil, Facilities Management, and Integrated Services.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage multi-disciplinary operations across Mining, Civil Construction, and Integrated Services throughout the Pilbara region.
Provide strong leadership across operational, commercial, and service delivery functions ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives.
Drive operational and commercial excellence, productivity, profitability, and continuous improvement initiatives across all business units, including Civil, Commercial, and Facility Management.
Ensure safe, efficient, high-quality, commercially sound, and cost-effective operational delivery across all projects and business lines.
Lead and develop high-performing operational and commercial teams through accountability, coaching, succession planning, and performance management.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and site leadership teams.
Oversee project budgets, forecasting, cost control, cash flow, and financial performance.
Manage and support commercial, contracts, and fleet operational activities, including tenders, mobilisation, execution, variations, and profitability across the business.
Support business growth through strategic planning and operational and commercial input.
Mentor and develop operational and commercial leaders and strengthen workforce capability.
Ensure workforce planning, mobilisation, and resource allocation are effectively managed.
Monitor project and commercial performance and implement corrective actions where required.
Develop Indigenous engagement, stakeholder relationships, and business compliance while promoting strong client and community partnerships.
Skills and Experiences:
Applicants must recognise and demonstrate capability across both Integrated Services and Mining Services operations, as the business is structured with an approximate 50/50 split in both revenue generation and workforce composition across these divisions. Accordingly, equal importance will be placed on the successful candidate’s ability to effectively manage, lead, and grow both operational streams, ensuring balanced focus, strategic development, and commercial performance across all contracts and business units.
About You
Minimum 15+ years of FIFO experience in mining industry, with tertiary qualifications or professional memberships in Mining, Engineering, Civil Construction, Commercial Management, or a similar field is essential.
Proven experience as a General Manager, Deputy GM, Operations Manager with sound experience in managing Commercial, Sales and Account operations in the business across civil, mining and utility services.
Senior leadership experience across Project Operations, Project execution, Commercial, or General Management roles.
Proven track record managing large-scale mining projects and multi-site operations.
Demonstrated success with P&L ownership, cash flow management, and growth delivery.
Strong governance, Board reporting, and risk management capability.
Proven leadership experience in complex stakeholder and Indigenous engagement environments.
Proven people management experience, with a sound understanding of Fair Work compliance and employment obligations.
Sound understanding of occupational health and safety obligations, including the ability to promote safe work practices and support compliance with company safety requirements.
High integrity, sound judgement, decisiveness, objectivity, common sense, and resilience under pressure.
A hands-on leadership style, with the ability to engage at both strategic and operational levels.
