About this role
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager for our Port Hedland location. This position does require someone onsite Monday to Friday and we are open to a FIFO arrangement.
As Operations Manager, you'll be the driving force behind how we work, implementing the right processes, systems and practices to keep the business running smoothly and performing at its best. You'll shape strategy, lift performance, and ensure the right materials, resources and compliance standards are in place across the operation.
You'll also play a key role in developing your team, mentoring and supporting them while finding new ways to raise the bar on customer service and embed best practice at every level.
On the financial side, you'll take ownership of budgeting, forecasting, margins and cost control, keeping a close eye on the numbers that drive profitability. You'll also lead project delivery from quality and delivery assurance through to client relationships, while contributing to broader operational planning and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and cost-effectively
- Manage current and potential contracts, including bid/tender support, contract review and document close-out
- Act as the key point of contact between clients and supervisors, ensuring labour forecasts are met and resources are coordinated across departments
- Lead and support Supervisors and Coordinators to keep scheduling, planning and workpacks on track and aligned with company processes
- Oversee procurement, inventory and warehouse efficiency in line with company requirements
- Drive continuous improvement across stock control, processes and order management
- Own budgets, forecasts and cost tracking, identifying potential variations and reporting on financial and project performance
- Monitor production KPIs and quality controls across projects and jobs
- Recruit, train and mentor your team, fostering a positive and high-performing culture
- Champion Ahrens' QHSE policies and procedures, promptly reporting hazards, incidents or concerns
Support early reporting of injuries and return-to-work practices in line with company procedures

What You'll Bring
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager or in a similar leadership role
- Strong knowledge of operations management and organisational effectiveness
- Solid experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial/business principles
- Bid/tender lead experience
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with strong organisational ability
- Degree in Business, Operations Management or a related field
- Confidence with Microsoft Excel, Word and Project; experience with PRONTO or similar accounting software is highly regarded
Experience in contract review, document handover and close-out processes
