LARDER CHEF / CHEF DE PARTIE – EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Experienced Chef | Full-Time | Buon Appetit – Camden NSW

Buon Appetit is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Larder Chefs / Chef de Parties to join our kitchen team.

We are a busy, family-owned Italian restaurant in Camden specialising in handmade pasta, traditional Italian food and authentic Napoletana-style wood-fired pizza.

This role is suited to an experienced chef who is confident running a section, works quickly and cleanly, and can maintain quality and consistency in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will primarily work across our larder, entrées and sides section, preparing and executing a range of hot and cold dishes during service.

Our restaurant regularly operates at high volume, so you must be comfortable working under pressure while maintaining presentation, portioning and food quality.

Responsibilities include:

Running and maintaining the larder section during service
Preparing and plating hot and cold entrées
Preparing sides, salads and accompaniments
Fryer work and section coordination
Daily mise en place and preparation
Maintaining consistent portioning and presentation
Managing stock levels and communicating prep requirements
Following FIFO and correct food storage procedures
Maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards
Keeping your section organised, clean and service-ready
Communicating effectively with other kitchen sections during busy service
Assisting with training and supporting junior chefs and apprentices where required

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an experienced chef who:

Has previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Larder Chef or equivalent
Is confident independently running a busy section
Has experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant
Can maintain speed without sacrificing quality
Has strong knife skills and preparation skills
Understands correct cooking techniques, seasoning and presentation
Is organised and capable of preparing effectively for busy services
Has strong food safety and hygiene knowledge
Is reliable, punctual and professional
Communicates well with the kitchen team
Takes pride in maintaining a clean and organised section
Can follow direction while also taking responsibility for their own section

Experience with Italian or Mediterranean food is highly regarded, but strong chefs from other restaurant backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

ABOUT BUON APPETIT

Buon Appetit began as a family-run Italian food truck and has grown into a large, busy restaurant in Camden.

We pride ourselves on fresh ingredients, handmade food, consistency and genuine Italian cooking.

Our kitchen can regularly service 300+ covers, so this is not a slow-paced role. We are looking for someone who enjoys the energy of a busy kitchen and understands what it takes to stay organised and deliver consistently through a heavy service.
