Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Service Manager to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of Wagga Wagga recovery Hub.

About the role

In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for the strategic development, effective management, and continuous improvement of client-centred service delivery in Wagga Wagga.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure services are delivered in alignment with organisational values, quality standards, and best-practice principles.

Reporting to State Manager AOD, this is a full-time permanent position aligned with the SCHADS Award Level 7.

How you will make an impact

Ensure services meet TSA guidelines, accreditation standards, and evidence-based best practice.
Oversee budgets, risk, infrastructure, and contractual requirements.
Lead a dedicated team of professionals, fostering a culture of care, respect and accountability.
Embed continuous quality improvement and client feedback into service planning and delivery.
Actively build partnerships, referral pathways and cross-sector collaborations.
Represent TSA at sector forums and lead our contribution to the broader AOD landscape.

What you will bring

A degree in social work, psychology, welfare, community development or a related field.
Extensive experience in the AOD sector with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in leadership.
A proven record of managing large and complex services, leading teams, and navigating compliance frameworks.
Trauma informed, harm minimisation, recovery-oriented knowledge of models of care
A strategic, data-informed mindset with the ability to plan, evaluate and grow services.
A passion for social justice and inclusive, person-centered care
Criminal Justice experience is desired
Diverse knowledge of risk management and clinical governance

What we offer

Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.
Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers, Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities.
