Full Job Description

As a Pastry Cook at Melbourne Bakehouse in Port Melbourne, VIC, you will play a crucial role in crafting delectable pastries and desserts that delight our customers. Reporting to the Head Pastry Cook, this full-time position involves working in a fast-paced, dynamic bakery environment, utilising your exceptional culinary skills to contribute to the bakery's success.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and executing a wide range of high-quality pastries, cakes, and desserts to the bakery's exacting standards
Developing new recipes and introducing innovative pastry items to the bakery's menu
Ensuring all pastry and dessert items are prepared, presented, and delivered to customers with consistency and efficiency
Maintaining a clean and organised workstation, adhering to all food safety and hygiene protocols
Providing guidance and mentorship to junior kitchen staff, contributing to their development
Collaborating with the Head Pastry Cook to optimise pastry production and the bakery's overall operations

What we're looking for

Minimum 3 years' experience as a Pastry Cook or in a similar role within a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment
Formal qualifications in Baking, Patisserie, or Culinary Arts, with a strong understanding of pastry techniques and trends
Excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating visually stunning and delicious pastries
Outstanding time management and multitasking abilities to thrive in a high-pressure environment
Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required
