SOAZ 22 (Soaz22 QST Pty Ltd) is seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join our kitchen team on a permanent full-time basis. Located in the heart of Melbourne CBD, SOAZ 22 is a modern restaurant offering a unique blend of French and Asian fusion cuisine, specialising in high-quality brunch, lunch and private dining experiences.

As part of our business expansion, SOAZ 22 is preparing to introduce an evening dinner service to complement our existing daytime operations. We are seeking a Cook to support our expanded kitchen operations and assist in delivering a high standard of lunch and dinner menu items.

Reporting to the Head Chef, the Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of dishes while maintaining consistent food quality, presentation and food safety standards. The role will also assist with food preparation, stock management and maintaining an efficient kitchen operation during busy service periods.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare and cook the restaurant’s range of stocks, sauces and menu components.

· Prepare and cook a wide range of breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.

· Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, dressings and garnishes for daily service.

· Cook food using a variety of techniques including grilling, roasting, pan-frying, baking and poaching while maintaining consistency in quality and presentation.

· Portion, plate and present dishes to the restaurant's quality and presentation standards.

· Ensure ingredients and prepared food items are fresh, properly stored and handled in accordance with food safety regulations.

· Assist in the preparation of daily specials, event menu and seasonal menu items under the direction of the Head Chef.

· Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is prepared safely and to specification.

· Assist with ordering, receiving and rotating stock, ensuring inventory is properly managed and food wastage is minimised.

· Maintain cleanliness of kitchen workstations, equipment and food preparation areas in accordance with food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.

· Assist with menu preparation, food costing and portion control to support efficient kitchen operations.

· Train and support kitchen hands and junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safe kitchen practices.

· Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service during busy periods and maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction.

Skills & Experience Required

- Minimum 1+ years’ experience as a Cook in a busy restaurant.

- Experience preparing contemporary Australian, French or Asian fusion cuisine is highly regarded.

- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen operations.

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.

- Excellent organisational and time management skills.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

- Commitment to delivering high-quality food and customer satisfaction.

Pay: $81,000.00 per year
