Position Summary
Seoul Garden Chadstone is part of the well-established Seoul Garden Korean BBQ buffet group, bringing authentic flavours, quality food and warm hospitality to Melbourne’s vibrant dining scene.
We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our busy kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for consistently preparing dishes to established recipes and presentation standards, maintaining food quality, and supporting efficient kitchen operations.
Key Tasks
· Contributing to the development and refinement of Korean BBQ buffet and hot dish menus and ensuring dishes are executed according to established cost and quality standards.
· Preparing and cooking a wide range of hot dishes, ensuring consistency, correct portioning, and presentation that reflect full-service restaurant standards.
· Carrying out marination, seasoning, and grilling of meats and seafood in line with standard recipes and the Head Chef’s direction.
· Executing the Head Chef’s culinary direction with precision, ensuring all recipes, portioning, and plating are performed to standard, and accommodating special dietary needs or customised requests where appropriate.
· Maintaining ingredient freshness, proper storage, and efficient use of ingredients and equipment while minimising waste and reporting shortages or quality issues to the Head Chef.
· Assisting in training and mentoring Cooks and Kitchen Hands.
· Organising daily preparation tasks and coordinating with kitchen staff to maintain structured workflows.
· Maintaining hygiene, cleaning, and food safety procedures in compliance with Australian regulations.
· Collaborating with other kitchen staff and front-of-house teams to coordinate timing, service flow, and customer requirements.
Qualification & Experience
· A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate IV or higher) or equivalent.
· Having a minimum of 1 years’ relevant experience as a Chef, with experience in Asian cuisine preferred.
Skills & Capabilities
· Applying good knowledge of Australian food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
· Applying strong culinary expertise in Korean BBQ and a wide variety of hot dish techniques with sound understanding of authentic flavour profiles.
· Demonstrating discipline, reliability, and commitment to continuous learning under the guidance of senior chefs
· Effective teamwork and communication skills to support both kitchen and service staff.
· Handling ingredients and stock effectively through correct storage, rotation, and waste minimisation, with basic awareness of cost control.
· Maintaining consistent food quality, presentation, and taste across a high-volume, fast-paced service environment.
· Proficiency in the safe use of professional kitchen tools and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and food processors.
Pay: $78,000.00 – $83,000.00 per year
