Full Job Description

The Senior Officer Scientific and Animal Licensing provides leadership to a small operational team in the administration and regulation of licences, permits and audits in accordance with the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994; Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 and Domestic Animals Act 1994 (as required).

The Senior Officer Scientific and Animal Licensing provides strategic input into the design and delivery of risk based approaches in the delivery of regulation associated with animals used for research and teaching and privately owned exotic pest animals.

The position provides permit and compliance advice to the Program Manager Animal Use Regulation and the Director Regulatory Operations. The position undertakes audits and inspections of research facilities and licence holders and has a key role in managing stakeholder relationships associated with animal welfare associated with the use of pest animals for research and education.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

A degree in science would be well regarded.
Experience in providing effective management advice in invasive animal biosecurity and / or animal experimentation would be well regarded.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 475-485 Mickleham Road, Attwood (flexibility may be available) with hybrid work arrangements available.
