The Role
The Animal Nutrition Sales & Customer Support Officer is responsible for driving customer engagement, supporting sales growth, and providing technical nutrition advice to livestock producers. The role requires frequent on farm visits, strong relationship building skills, and the ability to translate nutritional knowledge into practical feeding solutions. Administrative tasks remain part of the role but are secondary to customer facing and sales responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service, Technical Support & Stakeholder Engagement

Act as the primary point of contact for customers, providing timely and professional support.
- Conduct regular on farm visits to assess livestock performance, understand feeding challenges, and recommend appropriate nutritional solutions.
- Provide technical advice on feed products, rations, and feeding programs in collaboration with the company nutritionist.
- Follow up with existing and prospective customers to support sales growth and retention.
- Gather and document customer feedback, particularly regarding feed quality, performance, or on farm issues.
- Maintain a professional company image in all customer interactions.
Sales Development & Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, resellers, and key industry stakeholders.
- Identify new business opportunities and support the sales pipeline through proactive outreach and farm visits.
- Prepare and deliver product information, feeding recommendations, and tailored solutions based on customer needs. Analyse customer purchasing patterns, feed requirements, and performance outcomes to support sales planning.
- Provide regular sales activity reports and insights to senior management.
- Support marketing and promotional activities, including field days, events, and customer demonstrations.
Feed Formulation, Quality & Compliance Support

Work with the company nutritionist to ensure feed formulations are accurate, current, and aligned with customer requirements.
- Assist with maintaining FeedSafe documentation and compliance records.
- Support quality investigations by gathering on farm information and liaising with internal teams.
- Maintain familiarity with relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Light Administrative & Operational Support
- Enter and update customer orders, call notes, and key data in business systems.
- Prepare sales reports, customer summaries, and visit logs.
- Support onboarding of new customers by ensuring required documentation is completed.
- Provide occasional backup support to office functions during staff absences.
WHS, Risk Management & Housekeeping

Complete farm risk assessments for new and existing customers.
- Promote and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a safe and organised work environment, including during farm visits and site interactions.
Experience, Qualifications & Personal Attributes
Essential
-
Qualification in animal science, animal nutrition, agricultural science, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in animal nutrition and livestock feeding systems, ideally within the stockfeed or agricultural sector.
- Proven sales or customer facing experience, with the ability to build trust and influence purchasing decisions.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Physical fitness to undertake farm visits and light manual tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business systems.
- Permanent Australian residency or citizenship; current driver’s licence and reliable transport.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Self-motivated, proactive, reliable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable

Experience in stockfeed manufacturing or agricultural sales.
- Understanding of FeedSafe quality systems.
- Knowledge of environmental or regulatory requirements relevant to feed manufacturing.
