Full Job Description

Floridia Cheese is a successful family-owned business based in Thomastown, proudly producing award-winning Italian-style cheeses for over 70 years. With more than 100 employees, recognised brands, and a growing local and global customer base, we continue to build on our reputation for quality and innovation.

This newly created permanent, full-time position is ideal for a mid-senior level professional looking to contribute to our financial operations. You will support the Finance Manager and play a crucial role in supporting the accounting department (AR/AP), ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of our business.

Responsibilities

Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
Assist with month-end, year-end close processes, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting.
Support inventory and manufacturing accounting, including stock takes, inventory valuation, standard costing, variance analysis, and fixed asset accounting.
Assist with the preparation of BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax, GST, FBT, and other statutory reporting.
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
Manage and support the team across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll, including invoicing, reconciliations, payment processing, and account maintenance.
Maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory obligations, company policies, and internal controls, and support internal and external audits.
Process transactions and prepare reports within the ERP system while identifying opportunities to improve finance systems, processes, and automation.
Prepare financial analysis and management reports to support business performance, operational decision-making, and continuous improvement.

Takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety

Qualifications & Skills

CPA qualified (or working towards) a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
10+ years' experience combined in Accounts Receivable, Assistant Accounting, or similar
Strong knowledge of Australian accounting principles, financial reporting, and end-to-end AR processes.
Proficient in Advanced Excel and accounting software (SAP B1 preferred).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience in credit insurance, forecasting, FMCG advantageous.
Positive, adaptable, and proactive attitude.
