About the role
Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, the Assistant Accountant supports the Perpetual Wealth Management Finance team in delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled financial outcomes, primarily for the Fordham business.
The role contributes to month-end reporting, reconciliations, trust accounting and finance systems administration, while supporting the ongoing improvement of finance processes, systems and controls.
Key responsibilities include:
Prepare general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, including daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
Deliver month-end financial accounting and reporting processes.
Support the preparation of management reports and act as a key contact for Accounts Payable and invoice coding queries.
Administration of trust accounts in accordance with APES 310 requirements, including disbursements and operational accounting activities.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance the effectiveness and control environment of the finance function.
About you
You are a motivated accounting professional with strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem solving. You enjoy working collaboratively while taking ownership of your responsibilities and delivering high-quality outcomes.
Skills and experience:
A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
CA or CPA qualified, currently undertaking studies, or committed to commencing a professional qualification.
Approximately 2 years' experience in a similar accounting role, ideally within a professional services environment. Experience in other industries will also be considered.
Experience using finance systems such as Xero, APS, TM1 or similar platforms.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
A continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
