## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join our team and play a vital role in the delivery of civil infrastructure projects across a broad range of disciplines. In this role, you will produce accurate technical drawings, plans, and documentation that support Civil Engineers and Engineering Technologists throughout the design and construction lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong technical drafting ability, proficiency in industry-standard CAD software, and a solid understanding of civil engineering principles. This position suits a motivated professional who takes pride in precision, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to contribute to meaningful infrastructure outcomes.
## Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed sketches, plans, designs, and technical drawings for civil engineering works including drainage systems, water supply networks, sewage reticulation, roads, airports, dams, and associated structures
- Produce and maintain accurate construction drawings, cross-sections, long sections, and site layout plans in accordance with project specifications and relevant Australian standards
- Interpret and translate engineering concepts, survey data, and design briefs into clear, precise technical documentation suitable for construction and regulatory submission
- Assist Civil Engineers and Engineering Technologists in developing design solutions by preparing draft drawings for review, incorporating feedback, and managing iterative revisions
- Compile and organise project documentation, drawing registers, and revision histories to ensure drawings are version-controlled and readily accessible to all project stakeholders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, and clients to resolve drafting queries and ensure design intent is accurately communicated across all outputs
- Prepare charts, tabulations, and quantity schedules to support engineering reports, tender documentation, and project costings
- Carry out drafting quality checks to verify dimensional accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant design standards and internal drafting protocols
- Support the preparation of development applications, council submissions, and infrastructure approval documentation as required
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting templates, standard detail libraries, and CAD workflows to enhance team efficiency and output quality
- Liaise with surveyors, planners, and external consultants to obtain and incorporate relevant data into design drawings in a timely and accurate manner
## Required Qualifications & Skills

- Demonstrated experience in a civil engineering drafting role, with a solid understanding of civil infrastructure design principles
- High-level proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, with experience producing construction-standard drawings across a range of civil disciplines
- Familiarity with relevant Australian standards, local council requirements, and infrastructure design guidelines applicable to roads, drainage, water, and sewer projects
- Sound ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, survey plans, contour data, and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy across high volumes of drawing production and revision
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with engineers, clients, and external stakeholders
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines across multiple projects
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, for the preparation of supporting documentation and reporting

- Knowledge of ADAC (Asset Design and As Constructed) requirements and local government infrastructure submission processes
- Previous experience working within a consulting engineering or local government environment
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) principles and their application to civil infrastructure projects
- Current driver's licence with the ability to attend site visits or project meetings as required
